Running in South Tyrol

Ready to run

My running holidays in Europe on the Monte Pana in the Dolomites.

Just starting to run and leaving everything behind me. Ever since I first came to South Tyrol to run and hike in Val Gardena, I have discovered what it means to feel completely liberated. I start running directly in front of my favourite hotel for running training holidays on the high plateau of Monte Pana. Routes of varying lengths and difficulty start here heading out into the fascinating world of the Dolomites. As passionate runners, my hosts Birgit and Christian Stuffer always have the best tips and advice for me.

10 panoramic running routes

Ten different running routes start from the Cendevaves. Depending on how fit I feel, I choose an easy or a more demanding route. I can run a leisurely 2.5 kilometres on the "Raida de Pana" with just a few metres of elevation, take on the medium-difficulty World Cup circuit or tackle the 17-kilometre Sassolungo circuit with 1,000 metres of elevation. The Dolomite peaks accompany me every step of the way on all routes.

On the way to top form

Monte Pana is the perfect place to train for your next marathon. The climate at 1,650 meters couldn't be better suited. Running at a healthy altitude, where the purest mountain air fills my lungs, has been proven to improve my fitness and get me into top shape. There is hardly anywhere else where I can train more effectively than on the routes around my running hotel in the Val Gardena Dolomites.
